The case of the detainees of Rostov Detention Center

In early July 2024, several defendants — Ibragim Beituganov, Magomed Alhanov, Magomed Hanilaev, Kurban-Ismail Mutairov, Bashir Dibirasulaev, Shamil Hantuev —
Were suddenly transferred from Detention Center No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don, where an attempted escape and hostage-taking took place on the night of June 16.
All the missing detainees were allegedly transferred to a Detention Center in Taganrog, however their lawyers and relatives have been refused access to them.
Family members fear that detainees may be tortured to obtain confessions regarding their involvement in the attempted escape and hostage-taking.
One of the detainees, Magomed Alhanov, is being accused of an attack on the Pskov troops in February 2000, near a village in Ulus-Kert in Vedensky district in Chechnya.
His lawyer was able to confirm that Alhanov is currently being held in the Detention Center No. 2 in Taganrog.
On August 19, the hearing of the case against Magomed Alhanov took place in the Southern District Military Court. For the first time in a while, Alhanov was present in court by means of a video call from Detention Center No. 2 in Taganrog.
